As I sit down to write this, it's 9am and I've already worked out, showered and drank an entire glass of water. And after I'm done with this post, I'm going to eat breakfast before noon!
You have noooo idea what a change from the norm that is. I really seem to have some sort of eternal struggle with doing things that are actually healthy for me. And instead I whine and complain every single day about how sore and stiff and headachey and tired I feel. And I know why I feel that way! But I just don't have the motivation to change it.
So, I'm making a list. I've made lists like this before but never put them "out there" where I could be asked about them or held accountable in any way. So maybe that'll help me keep it all in the forefront of my mind this time around. It's basically a How to Stop Being a Lazy Asshole list because I think laziness is what it really boils down to. And I can't continue on much longer letting my lazy ways affect my personal health, cause that affects everything else.
So here's the list of things I know I need to do every single day (or at least way way more often):
1. Exercise! Once or twice a month is where I'm at right now. And with such a sedentary job of "blogger" it's really a necessity to move my weary bones everyday. I've heard 28 is the magic year when your metabolism disappears and I'm only a few months away, so I better act fast!
2. Drink water! I drink literally a sip of water to take my pill in the morning and not another sip until nighttime when I have a glass of water with dinner, or maybe after dinner. That's it! I know I really should be drinking water all day long, and I have no reason not to. I just don't think about it. I need to think about it!
3. Eat three meals! I usually get so engrossed blogging away that I don't eat breakfast til noonish, then I eat lunch at 3 or 4 and am not hungry for dinner so I have ice cream instead. Or I don't eat lunch at all and spend all day starving until dinnertime. Not a healthy way to be, I know.
4. Eat some veggies and fruit! I'm a vegetarian who lives off pasta and bread and cheese pretty much. Veggies are occasional, not because I don't like them, just because again, I'm a lazy asshole. If I had a personal chef to fix my meals everyday, or enough money to eat out for every meal, I'd eat a ton of food and it would all be well balanced and veggie filled and delicious. But I only have lazy little me to make food and sometimes, well, I just don't wanna!
5. Cook more! I could kill the 2 above birds with one stone if I just cooked more! Not on the days that I really don't wanna, but I think a few times a week should be doable. When I actually make a genuine meal for myself, or for the mister and I, I feel good, I think it tastes so good and I love that little feeling of accomplishment. But I'm usually so dead by the end of the day that the last thing I want to do is cook dinner. But perhaps if I do #1 and #2 on the list more often, that'll help remedy that lethargy. Maybe I'll have to start posting photos of some home cooked meals regularly? It seems if I blog about things, they seep into my routine a lot easier...hmm, something to think about...
Alright, I think that's all a girl can handle for now. I could go on and on but I honestly think these 5 things could be life changing. And they're all so simple! Yet I truly struggle with implementing them into my daily life.
Anyone else out there struggle with things like this? What's one thing you know you need to incorporate into your daily routine to feel healthier and happier? I feel like I'm the laziest person on the planet! Or at least the laziest blogger in blogtown!
