Crochet season

Summer's coming and with the shorter sleeves comes the time to break out those bracelets!  I love bracelets; they're definitely one of my favorite accessories because I don't often see many people wearing them and I like the way they slip and slide against my arm.  Well, it may be high time for more people to start enjoying the thrills of a bracelet dancing on their wrist, especially when we now have such simply sweet crocheted ones like these, from Wren Handmade!  Perfection!

Fit for a Queen

Plastic Mystique

Jump around!

You'll be jumping for joy in this super cute jumper dress by dainty & dirty.  Features a a very limited edition vintage owl print fabric from the 70's on the bodice and pocket with a soft jersey knit skirt.  The slight gathering of the fabric beneath the bodice and the keyhole in the pocket totally sold me- I love attention to little details like that.  It's shown in its "winter mode" here, but would look fabulous with some wedges and leggings for the warmer months.  I also love the big wooden buttons, handmade for a "folky" touch- Heidi would definitely rock this as the perfect yodeling outfit, but with its hip style and flattering fit, you can rock it too, no glockenspiel required!  Find it only at dainy & dirty, along with some also very cute vintage obi belts and more!

Hello me loves!  Grace from design*sponge has a new column she's starting next week called "ask a designer" where she'll feature a new designer each week, talk about their success stories and then open it up for questions from us!  She's interested in indie designers and is currently taking suggestions for designers that you'd like to hear from!  So if there are some indie designers you've always wanted to know more about, learn from, be even more inspired by, feel free to name drop and leave a comment for Grace so hopefully she can represent the indie/handmade element as well!  I already put in my suggestions! :)

April Sampler Favorites!

The Sampler never fails to cheer me up, and its because of things like these:
A cute little pick me up clutch by Barry's Farm- the one I received is vinyl with a happy little strawberry ice cream cone on it.  It's well made and I must say, cute enough to eat!  Yum!

These cool prints by Wolfie and Sneak, based off of original drawings that have been left black and white so you can color them in, just like in your grade school days.  Even comes complete with 2 pretty markers for your coloring needs.  DO go outside the lines with this one.

I received a very pretty press special necklace from Beadoodles featuring a sterling charm with pearl dangling.  It's simple and sweet and a swell addition to any jewelry collection.  Ooh la la!

Let the sunshine in!

It's finally warming up to the 70's this week here and it made me start thinking of farmer's markets and craft fairs and what to carry around all those good street fair finds in!  Welp, how bout a cute tote by Miyo Design?

These handmade poppy totes are roomy, yet still small enough to carry around all day, and feature a pretty bright orange poppy pattern that looks like they've harnessed the sun.  Hope you'll be able to harness a bit of sun soon in your neck of the world, and may you find yourself with the perfect tote to play in it with!

Perhaps you've seen these new feather earrings at free people and felt a twinge of lust as did I, but saw the $68 price tag and thought, "Whaaa?"  Perfect solution- Krystal Sullivan.  She makes gorgeous, handmade, one-of-a-kind feather earrings that are just so so pretty I can hardly contain myself!  And what's even better?  They're only $20 each! 

Of course, I had to buy up a couple before I announced them here so you couldn't snatch my favorites! Vintage soft

There is no better t-shirt than a vintage 50/50 cotton/poly blend that has been so worn out through the years, the cotton has almost entirely worn away leaving only the soft, and now see thru, polyester material.  Oooh, just thinking about it makes me wanna curl up in such a tee and boxers and fall fast asleep.  Unfortunately, snagging a tee like that in a thrift store or scoring one on ebay is a few and far between find, that's why we're fortunate to have companies like Ichabods, creating tees that hearken back to the softness of a real vintage one.

These "burn-out" tees mimic the effect of the cotton being worn away, leaving a burned out look of a semi sheer poly/cotton blend that's super soft and has more drape than a regular 100% cotton tee.  Plus, the graphics are cute and original and they donate $2 from each sale to a charity that you can choose at checkout!  Find more cool tees for guys and kiddos too at Ichabods!

Forwards spawn inspiration?

I received a forward email at work yesterday that was actually really adorable about a little lost fawn that appeared at this family's doorstep- they took her in and their big dog instantly claimed ownership over the fawn, took care of it, cuddled up with it and treated it like it was its own!  So cute!  The moral of the story is, fawns are damn cute and deserve our (and our dog's) love and attention.  That's why I like this little fawn necklace by Figs & Ginger so much!

Site of the week: Blissen

I've been a fan of Jill Bliss since before I started modish, and featured her site blissen as site of the week long long ago probably before most of you were reading this blog.  So with a still wintery spring upon many of us and my yearning to see something fresh, flowery and feminine, I naturally gravitated back to the blissful world of Jill and found just what I was looking for.
